Issue Summary
Despite pasting images from external sources not being supported (JRACLOUD-78722), Jira still has inconsistency with uploading and viewing attachments that are pasted in.
When pasting an image from an external source in to a Description, sometimes the change can be saved and sometimes it will fail with error. As well, if it does fail, it can then allow you to refresh the page and the proceed to save the change successfully.
Example error:
*We couldn’t update the Description value
You can try again in a few minutes, or refresh the page.*
Secondly, for images that are pasted in to a Work Item, sometimes users browsing will see "Preview unavailable" when trying to expand the attachment. But after refreshing the page, then it renders successfully.
Steps to Reproduce
There are two problems.
First:
- Go to a third-party website and copy an image, then come back to Jira and paste it in to a Description and save.
Second:
- Try to view the newly attached image in a Work Item. Potentially leave the browser window open for a while and then try.
Expected Results
Jira should be consistent in what it permits to be uploaded. And secondly, viewing attachments should be consistent.
Actual Results
When pasting in images, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
When viewing Work Items, sometimes attachments can render and sometimes they cannot.
Workaround
Upload all attachments from filesystem and not via pasting from external sources.
