Select List (Multiple choices) custom field value cleared if adding field to Transition screen

      Issue Summary

      Whenever a Select List (Multiple choices) custom field value is added to a Transition screen the value is cleared after going through the transition, even if an Option was selected in a previously defined step in the workflows or e.g. if the Field was filled out during a Request creation from the Custom Portal. This issue happens if you're using the New issue transition experience as described here.

      The value is cleared even if the Workflow does not have defined any Post Function to clear the value.

      NOTE: If you have the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field's Field configuration set as Required you'll see an error in the Transition screen stating that the Field is required, even if you'll notice that the value is filled out.)

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a Select List (Multiple choices) custom field.
      2. Make sure that the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field created in step 1 is added to a Transition screen within your Workflow.
      3. Make sure to add the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field created in step 1 as a Required field in any Request Form.
      4. Create a work item from the Customer Portal using the Request Form defined in step 3 and make sure to select one of the options available of the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field.
      5. After the work item is created make sure that the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field is filled out with the value selected in Step 4.
      6. Try to transition the work item to the status related to the Transition screen defined in Step 2.
      7. Notice that the value of the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field is cleared out from the value selected in 4.

      Expected Results

      You are able to transition the issue and the value of the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field is not cleared out. The same value selected during the issue creation from the Request Form should still be there.

      Actual Results

      If you have the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field's Field configuration set as Optional you'll notice that even though the value was initially filled out the value of the custom field changes to None and is cleared out.

      NOTE: If you have the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field's Field configuration set as Required you'll see an error in the Transition screen stating that the Field is required, even if you'll notice that the value is filled out.)

      Workaround

      • Remove the Select List (Multiple choices) custom field from the transition screen if you're using the New issue transition experience as described here.
      • Disable the New issue transition experience Feature under your General Personal Settings as described here.
