    Description

      Issue Summary

When a search is performed using pasted text from Microsoft Office, Jira adds the text copied from Office applications as an image attachment to the first issue displayed in the search results if the issue view is turned on. Jira inserts the attachment as an image because that's how Microsoft Products format the data in memory. Reference:

However, the bigger issue is that when pasting into the JQL search field, other fields visible on the page are also capturing the paste event and the paste happens on multiple fields.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Do a JQL Advanced issue search in Jira
      2. Turn on the detailed issue view and select any issue
      3. Copy any cell from an excel document
      4. Paste the result into the search bar for the JQL search

      Expected Results

Text of the excel cell will be pasted into the search bar

      Actual Results

png image is uploaded to the issue in the detailed view with the contents of the excel cell

      Workaround

In order to paste from an MS Office application without triggering an image upload, paste as plain text.

The shortcuts for doing so are as follows:

      Windows:

      CTRL + Shift + V

      Mac:

      Shift + Option + Command + V
