Ability to enable/disable the new status dropdown in the create issue view by project

Hello everyone,

We heard from some of you that changing the status field during issue creation may sometimes compete with automation you’ve set up, and admins may need an option to disable the field which will completely remove it from the Create issue. Please note, doing so will disable it across all projects in your instance.

1. Go to Settings > System.
2. Select Edit Settings.
3. Scroll to Options and choose the settings you’d like to turn on or off.
4. Select Update to save your changes.

We are committed to continuously improving it and making it more configurable for individual projects. However, at this time, it is not on our immediate roadmap.

Summary

With the release of https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-69559 customers will be able to select the initial status of an issue from the create issue screen but this is enabled from a product perspective, forcing the customers to apply changes to all of the projects in order to show or hide statuses from the dropdown as there is no way to disable the feature from a Jira administration perspective.

Instead of managing this from a product level the feature should be managed from a project level, so there should be a setting to enable/disable this status field per project. 

Steps to Reproduce

1. Start creating an issue.
2. The status dropdown is showing in the first fields.
3. The options of the dropdown are enabled/disabled depending of the workflow configuration

Expected Results

• From the project settings, there is an option to enable/disable the status dropdown from the create issue view.{}
• Options displayed in the dropdown are managed by the workflow configuration.

Actual Results

• From the project settings, there isn't an option to enable/disable the status dropdown from the create issue view.{}
• From the Jira settings, there isn't an option to enable/disable the status dropdown from the create issue view
• Options displayed in the dropdown are managed by the workflow configuration.
  • Because of this there are projects allowing final users to select unwanted statuses when creating an issue.
  • Changes to workflows are required to avoid unwanted statuses. Depending of the amount of projects impacted, this could be overwhelming and can impact the business day-to-day of customers.

Workaround

This feature can be disabled at site level. Please create a Support Ticket if you wish to have it disabled.
