Currently, it is not possible to list all the child issues of an epic that matches specific criteria using the available JQL functions

For example, there is no inbuilt function to list all the issues in an Epic that has a due date today.

Having a function to cater to this need is desired.

I believe this issue is a duplicate of JRACLOUD-18839 – Create a JQL functionality to filter the sub-task for a field value of the parent issue which has more votes.

I recommend that watchers of this issue vote on and watch the above issue. So that votes aren't split, I believe this ticket should be closed, but I will wait before taking any action in case anyone disagrees. Thank you!

We will neeed to retrieve child issues (with certain conditions) of all epics with certain conditions.

e.g. get all open child issues in all open epics

At the moment this can only done by specific addons

            YES! PLEASE!

this functionality is currently offered in Addons like JQL Search extension, but as they cannot inject this in the existing search functionality, it's not possible to use these functions outside the addons, which makes them quite useless.

We need JQL to be a flexible search engine, currently we have functions similar to 'portfolioChildIssuesOf()' but these allow is only to enter a specifc Issue, that's not enough. we need this to be variable so we can use this to populate our boards etc.

we have flows over multiple projects where our EPICs are in one project, and the feature tickets are spread out in the other projects.

Currently there's no decent way to filter this.
