Ten years old in various tickets and suggestions. Another closed ticket for the most annoying and counterproductive feature of your services.

Autoreplacing Smileys ruins code posted in ticket comments.
It needs to be removed ten years ago. Fix it!

Bumping this. Please add an option to disable autocomplete emoji. There are lots of valid character combinations that very difficult to type out because of overzealous emoji autocomplete. Slash between 2 equal signs frustratingly creates an unprofessional looking slanty face =/=.

Might I make a suggestion than just complain - assuming someone in Atlassian reads this - much like I am able to highlight some text and make it 'code like' by using a formatting context of 'code' (i.e. ctr;-sfht-M) would it not be beyond the ken of development to have something similar for emojis, so that those people that do find it necessary to insert smiley faces, thumbs-up and poo icons in their technical documentation can do so while the rest of us who as someone else in a previous thread has said, use the software in a 'professional' capacity can get on with our lives.

Yes, I can confirm that several years later this is still causing an issue for us. Please give admins the option to disable.  

Please allow us to disable the annoying auto-popup whenever we type a simple character...

I recommend that watchers of this issue vote on and watch the above issue. So that votes aren't split, I believe this ticket should be closed, but I will wait a week before taking any action in case anyone thinks both issues should continue to exist. Thank you!

The suggestion (At the bottom of this page) does not work for the Cloud as for my account the option is greyed out and it has been checked in my case.
So no way to disable the emojis for individual accounts in Confluence.

I confirm that the emoji autocompletion in the description fields and comments is a huge waste of time for many people.

The most annoying behavior, to me, is when writing a description. I often have to type a column ":" before giving an example or explaining something ; but it gets autofilled with emojis.
It's a significant loss of time when writing an issue because I have to untype and then take my time and insert a white space after the column in order to trick Jira. which is ugly because I get useless whitespaces in my descriptions.

It would be great to provide an option to toggle this off, at an individual level.

And don't forget about some European languages which are affected by this too!
We don't need a Chat, we need a Tool for software developers as it was long time ago!

Please disable this "feature", or at least provide an option for the administrator of the instance to disable it.

Our product is the X-Plane flight simulator. We can no longer type the name of our product into our bug reports, because it gets autocorrected to grinning-face-lane because when you type X-P an emoji appears. 

Since we are not planning on renaming our product to clown-emoji-lane, allow us to name our product again in our bugtracker.
