Unable to select assignee of Subtask if creating it from the + button on the new view

This is a horrendously poorly scoped "view", What good is it to Have the + button if you cannot specify the Assignee? based on the Project settings either the issue is unassigned or the Project owner is getting bombarded with notifications of Sub tasks assigned to them. Please step up your game especially if you are going to force us into the New view on April 1. If your not going to make these new features work then at least give us the ability to control weather or not they are visible to our users.
