      Problem Definition

Customers would like to be able to search in Jira based on the User Profile Attributes (Department, Organization, Location/Based in, etc) set on their Users' Profiles

These values are either set by Atlassian Access SCIM/User Provisioning or Users have manually populated their own profile details

      Suggested Solution

Expose the Atlassian account User Attributes or sync the attributes into Jira so that they can be search via JQL

      Why this is important

This information could be used for filtering reports based on Department/Organization/Location/etc

      Workaround

On the Issues raised, use Components, Custom Fields, or Labels to define these values which can then be searched for via JQL

[JRACLOUD-73346] JQL Search Atlassian account User Profile Attributes

We have different SLAs for different divisions of our business so would love to be able to use attributes to build reporting/alerting on this.

Hi, we would love to have this capability, as our company currently does not maintain Jira groups or teams up to date... being able to filter issues by the user profile's department would save us a lot of time

            Hi,

This would be a very interesting feature to monitor activity and hierarchy for customers in JSM. Our use case is that we'll route requests raised by customer depending on their departement and geographical location defined in the AD.

            We'll use a third-party app for that.

            Cheers,

            Simon

This enhancement would be helpful when using Structure as well. In a Structure, as an enterprise capacity manager, I would like to group work items by user attributes so that I can calculate individual capacity based on the grouping.

I was recently asked for a report showing tickets logged by department. We sync this over from Google Workspace, so it would be super helpful to use in searches.

Would be great to have this. We are often tasked with showing where work is originating from (department, location, etc.). This is for things like headcount, training etc.

            Hi everyone,

We noticed that this improvement wasn't delivered for a while, and we understand that it is not always feasible to add more plugins or pay more for certain features when they should be native.

However, if this need is critical in your company at the moment, I recommend a flexible and cost-effective solution: Mindpro Sync ✅

This cloud app allows you to integrate with identity providers like Okta, Azure AD, and OneLogin to sync, map, and display user attributes (such as Reporter, Department, Manager, Location, etc..) inside Jira issues, JSM requests, and Portal.

Also, you can use these user attributes (since they are mapped to Jira read-only custom fields) to create JQL queries, filters, dashboards, create JSM queues, use in advanced automations, and other use cases.

📌 In a nutshell, with this app, you can:

            • Connect JIRA with one or multiple Identity Providers (OKTA, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, or OneLogin)
            • Select what information you want to display and from who (Reporter, Assignee, or other users)
            • Display user attributes on the Jira issue view, JSM requests, and Portal.
            • Show user hierarchy in the issue panel and JSM requests to facilitate escalation and approvals.
            • Automatically assign approvers based on user hierarchy or dedicated workflow post function.
            • Leverage user attributes data to create JQL queries, queues, automations, dashboards, and more.

✨ So, while these features are not available natively in Jira, and if you're open to using a third-party app, we can grant you up to 50% off your license for up to one year. To do so, use the following discount codes (according to your billing cycle): Monthly Billing code: MSEDSYNCMONTHLY Annual Billing code: MSEDSYNCYEAR
