Custom fields of Text Field (single line) Appends Hyperlink when a Value is followed by a dot character on the New Issue View

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

Creating a custom field using Text Field (single line) and adding a value followed by a dot causes a hyperlink to be appended to the value.

      Environment

      Jira Cloud

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a custom field of type Text Field (single line)
      2. Add that field to the Screens of a Project
      3. Create an Issue and try to add a value followed by a dot. e.g. 7.01 or hello.com

      Expected Results

The value should simply be added without displaying as a hyperlink.

      Actual Results

The value is added with a hyperlink appended to it.

      Space Added No Space Added
When a Space character is added in front of the value, this is the behaviour when no space character is added in front to the value, it displays as a hyperlink

      Notes

This behaviour does not occur on the Old Issue view. To add some context

      • with <space> character this field only has a <div> tag that wraps it with the inline edit button.
      • without <space> character, the field dynamically adds a <a href=“”> tag appended to it after the <div> tag.

If this bug is addressed, can it be applied in a way where improper links are retroactively fixed to be normal text, or could this ruin short links and internal links people may use?

      Workaround

Add 1 <space> character in front of the Number value before saving doesn't show any hyperlinks.
