Problem Definition

• Sometimes there's a need to have a way to quickly associate issues to other issues. Some customers would prefer to directly update a field as opposed to going through the link issue process

Suggested Solution

• Implement a custom field type that allows issue keys to be searched and added to the issue
• User experience would be similar to that of the "Epic" field in Jira Software.

Why this is important

• More flexibility in the way customers can use Jira to track resources(issues)

Workaround

• Use the issue linking feature
• Labels or components can be used instead of using issues resource actors
