      Update from Product team

      Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback here, my name is Jehan, I'm a product manager here on Jira Service Desk. I'd like to understand more about this need so would like to book in some time to discuss this with you. Would you be able to click the link below to book a time?

      Kind regards,

      Jehan

      Summary
When a user uploads a file or image as an attachment to an issue they are then unable to use this attachment in a comment , the old method of no longer works.

      Steps to Reproduce
      1. Upload a file as an attachment to an issue.
      2. Create a comment on that issue and try to include a the attachment in the comment itself.

      Expected Results
The attachment would be in the list of files under recent uploads when clicking the 'Files and Images' button, or a text shortcut similar to the old method could be used to add a thumbnail in the comment.

      Actual Results
The file must be drag & dropped into the comment again as a seperate upload.

      Workaround
Disable the new issue view. For that follow the steps below:

      • Select your avatar and choose Profile
      • Turn off the New Jira issue view toggle under Labs
        OR

Just drag the file directly into the comment and do not upload as an attachment.

            Hi,

This functionality is crucial to my team and has to be fixed asap latest by the time the old view is closed - we very often attach a pre-existing instruction document to a Jira support request. It seems crazy that they should either switch views or send the instructions as separate emails outside Jira, which totally negates the idea of having everything in the same place.

I completely agree with Michael. Atlassian should fix this before closing down the old issue view in March !

We are also pushing for a resolution to this issue and believe that the Old Service Desk view should not be disabled until this is resolved on the new view. It's a basic every day function of a service desk.

The problem is especially annoying, when adding issues by email.

If you send an email with an embedded image inside the text, the issue created contains just the text in the summary and the images as attachment.

But in many cases it is important, to align the images inside the text, to get the correct screenshots in the correct position.

Especially, in many cases the order of the attachments is differently from the order in the email text, it seems that the images are name randomly.

It's very annoying, when editing is not working to correct that buggy email interface...

Workaround: Switch to "old" view, there you can add the image to comment or summary, then edit the url and remove the "oldIssueView" param to go back to new view.

We use this feature a great deal.  I would like to keep it in the new view before it is retired.

+1 - this is a feature we used regularly on the old view due to the amount of referencing and files/images. This is a key one for us to have resolved ideally.

I must report that recently copying text with images from the original description has been possible.

It did not work previously, but it might be an improvement implementer, or a fluke when it fails.
