JIRA Cloud Long Running Task hitting Nginx's 60-second timeout Shows as Page Not Available

Problem Description

When running Long Running Tasks that last more than 60 seconds, such as issue loading (a lot of comment) or changing scheme etc. It potentially hitting Nginx's 60-second timeout Shows as Page Not Available.

Expected Result

It will show a progress bar indicating it is still processing.

Actual Result

Forward to a page indicating Page not Available

Steps to Replicate

It is hard to reliably replicate this issue, it involves multiple factor. Usage and executing the task listed in the What is affected column below might trigger it.
Or alternatively, create 30k issues and change the issue security scheme. It potentially run into same issue if it took more than 60 seconds to complete the request.

Additional Context

When it is showing the error page, it is actually attempting to load the page again after a few second. It become potentially dangerous as it might re-fire the same request.

• Creating backup, as it revalidate before it hits into 60 seconds
• Indexing, progress bar

What is affected

• Changing security scheme for a very large instance
• Viewing a very large issue, a lot of comments
