lack of cancellation history

XMLWordPrintable

NOTE: This bug report is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding bug report.

As JRA-36670 and its many duplicates illustrate, JIRA users are wasting countless hours and nerve cells on typing comments that disappear when an escape button is accidentally pressed, while Atlassians are losing karma and wasting hours on explaining why they are not going to make the escape action warn users about losing two pages of carefully typed text.

There is no need for this suffering and waste!

Leave escape behavior as it is now – quick and easy. Add a personal history of a few last canceled text edits. If I just wasted an hour on a disappeared comment, I would be very happy to go to some obscure page and copy-paste my lost comment from there.

Good UX. No UI complications at all. And no users that hate you for making their text disappear. Yes, adding a personal history of canceled comments requires work, but that is not an excuse to avoid fixing a serious UX problem, is it?
