      Status Update

We are in the process of rolling out an entirely new issue detail view for Jira Cloud, across all products. This new issue experience has been completely redesigned and includes a single status transition button with a drop-down, which will show all status's and/or all transitions --> status if you have multiple transitions to a single status within your workflow. The ordering is just alphabetical within each status category (to do, in progress, done).

The new issue view is available to all Jira users. You can enable it by going to your personal settings, then scrolling down to find a Jira Labs section and enabling it.

Workflow transitions and status are a key part of any Jira issue, so our aim was to make it much more prominent, easier to understand, and easier to update when you want to make a change. You can read more about all the new features here:

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be closing this issue as it should be addressed by the new issue view. Thanks!

Taylor, will that new UI be coming to jira server deployments?

I also agree this is a usability issue.  In my case I would like to make all transition buttons go into the Workflow but it appears for Jira Cloud that isn't doable.  Atlassian please implement this.

This feature would be a big help for us as well! Very confusing and frustrating that we are not allowed to control this... results in lots of wasted time from new users and those who don't use JIRA often.

The very random nature of what from the workflow is a button and the order they appear in the workflow is VERY confusing to users.

            1. We need to control which workflow items are buttons, ideally there would not be a limit to this, we have very high resolution displays and would like to use it all.
            2. For any less used items in the workflow, that we decided to leave in the Workflow dropdown, we need to be able to control the order in which they are displayed
            3. The name of the Workflow button should be able to be changed.  "Workflow" does not make sense to many, we need to change this.

            I'll second this request.
Furthermore, we'd like the acceptable range to be 0-n. A value of zero would hide all button to the left of the 'workflow' dropdown. All states would, instead, appear within the 'workflow' dropdown.
