Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget should allow sorting of values as configured in select list custom field

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

When using the two dimensional filter statistics gadget and adding a Select List as one of the axes, a user can choose to sort either by Total or Natural.
Natural sorts by alphabetical order while total sorts by total issues.
There should be a sort option for sorting based on the options list as configured in the custom field itself.

E.g. say we have the following options configured in the custom field, of the same order:
      Very low
      Low
      Medium
      High
      Very High

We can't sort them like this using either of the Total or Natural sort options for the gadget.

      WORKAROUND:

      1. Rename the options to have a numerical value in front to reflect the sorting position, and have the gadget sort by Natural.

I believe this 2 dimensional gadget is widely used and do not understand why nothing has happened yet on this issue - the current sorting features seem very limited and at best - useless! The UX is not good for this gadget!

Several 3rd party apps have already implemented richer sorting features in 2 dimensional tables - but cost the tip of a jet fighter.

Im aware that the product team has to consider sorting implementation for each of the supported entity types, and this feature req. should probably be split into multiple:

            • Multiple "natural" sorting options. The current implementation is alphabetic. We need another "natural" sorting feature, based on the actual sequence of presence of list items in list typed entities.
            • Custom sorting. It should be possible to manually rearrange lists items from list type entities (unmapped list items could end up in an arbitrary "unknown" group)

            Definitely need this !

We set a custom severity field with specific values order :

            Critical
            Blocker
            Major
            Minor
            Cosmetic

But in the X-axis of  a two dimensional filter :
            Blocker - Cosmetic - Critical - Major - Minor

Aside from the Two-Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget, please could we also implement some form of user-control over how the rows in the Issue Statistics Jira gadget displays?  Thank you.

Maybe something like the Drag-and-Drop feature for Columns to display in Filter Results gadget can be implemented?  screenshot attached

Sorting based on the options list is a good suggestion, because it would be easy enough to implement.

But you should actually consider giving the user the ability to custom sort the columns and rows manually, just like how Excel does it in the pivot tables.

Users often make custom queries to analyze a specific subset of issues, and they then want highlight something in a particular order depending on the results of the Two Dimensional Filters results.

It doesn't make sense to have them change the option name, or reorder the option list, just to have a Two Dimensional Filters gadget display results in a sensible order.

Anyways, a typical end-user would never have any JIRA administration rights.

The custom sort feature for both columns and rows is the best answer to capture a lot of former Excel users and get them to adopt and love JIRA instead of their previous spreadsheets.
