      As a user, I would like to be able to use non consecutive issue numbers. Instead, I could define a per project numbering scheme. This scheme would be based on variables of different kinds. Some examples:

      Current Date (also more customizable)
      Num of issues filed this day

      Implementation examples:

      PRJKT-103112-05 Project_Key-Month_Day_Year-Issue_number_that_day
      PRJKT-102012 Project_Key-Month_Year

      This would be more in line with the needs and business standards of many Asian Pacific countries.
