Atlassian Status as of 21 December 2015

      Hi everyone,

Thanks for voting and commenting on this issue. Your feedback is key to helping us understand how you use JIRA so we can continue improving your experience. We have reviewed this issue over the last few days; however there are not currently any plans to implement this suggestion.

Also please note that JIRA Server and Data Centre customers have a few options to improve password processes:
      1. Using Crowd which already supports some of these requests.
      2. Using the workarounds/plugins mentioned in the comments below, noting that these are not supported by Atlassian directly.

Please remember that jira.atlassian.com is one of many inputs for the JIRA roadmap. You can learn more about our process here.

I understand that our decision may be disappointing. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

      Regards,
      Otto Ruettinger

      Original description
Many large corporations have specific rules governing passwords. It would be nice if JIRA Enterprise supported the ability to configure these rules. Specifically,

      • minimum & maximum number of days between passwords changes
      • minimum number of characters for a password
      • minimum composition of a password (e.g. at least 2 numbers or 1 special character)
      • number of attempts before locked out
      • lock out time period
      • password never expires
      • preventing specific users/groups from resetting their passwords
