It would definitely help reduce JIRA spam if JIRA could detect when an edit has been made to a comment that has not yet been mailed out because the mail is still waiting to be flushed out of the mail queue. When this situation is detected, the original comment emails would be deleted from the mail queue and the new edited comment email would be queued in it's place.
