Active user count is not correct in JIRA linked to crowd

Basically, this customer is facing some issues with the user count in JIRA after upgrading to JIRA 4.3.4 (his instance is connected to Crowd, btw).

I worked on the issue for quite some time assuming it was an issue with the customer's data, but after performing some tests in a vanilla instance of JIRA 4.1.2, Crowd 2.3.4 and JIRA 4.3.4, I could see that it wasn't a problem with his data.

I started testing JIRA 4.1.2 with Crowd 2.3.4.

I created 5 users in JIRA (user1, user2, user3, user4, user5), added the users to the jira-users group, and the license count was in 5 users, all of them active.

Then, I created 4 users in Crowd (user1, user2, user3, user4), also added them to the jira-users group and linked Crowd with JIRA. After that, JIRA shows only 4 users, and 4 of them are active.

These tests show us that the user count is correct for JIRA 4.1.2.

Now, when linking JIRA 4.3.4 I did the exact same thing: created 5 users (user1, user2, user3, user4, user5) in JIRA, added them to the jira-users group, and the user count was in 5 users, all of them active users.

Then I created 4 users in Crowd (user1, user2, user3, user4), added those users to the jira-users group and created a Crowd Remote Directory in my JIRA.

Now, the user count was 5 users, and 6 of them are active. It doesn't matter which directory is on top for authentication, the user count is always 5 users and 6 active ones.

I don't know where JIRA is retrieving the 6th user to the count.

Which query is built to show this message on the user browser?
