      Hi everyone,

      Thanks so much for your vote, detailed thoughts and comments on this issue.

      Great news. This request is already addressed and our Cloud customers can benefit from it even today. For the JIRA Server customers: the feature will be delivered in the upcoming release of JIRA, which is going to be available really really soon.

      With that said, thank you all for for your patience and continued support and voting for this feature request. More enhancements to JIRA are coming soon.

      Cheers,

      Bartek

      Original request description

      When I have queried for a list of issues, I'd like to be able to use the bulk edit abilities to add a label to some/all of the issues. When adding a label, it overwrites/deletes any existing labels on the issue. Bulk editing of labels should be additive, or even better give an option to be additive or overwrite any existing.

            PLEASE make this happen! There is so much junk in the label field and if you don't have cross project access you can't fix them from dropping out of the options. Make creating a label an Admin function at the least! It will help

            Not being a Cloud user this can simply be done via mysql:

            mysql> update label set LABEL='FinalRelease' where LABEL='Alpha';
            Query OK, 1 row affected (0.03 sec)
            Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0

            @Bartek Gatz: Thanks for the feature and the fast reply. The feature is actually available in our 6.4 server. But the feature works only for the one default labels-field, but not for configurable custom label-fields. The title states label field*s*, therefore i expected it to work with all label-fields. Would you like to reopen this issue or create a new one that I could follow and vote for?

            bastian.schenke1, this functionality was made available in JIRA 6.4 for Server deployments as well. I have just updated the fix version field.

            Thanks for addressing the issue, but when will it be available for server customers?

            +1 Are there any updates as to when the new JIRA Server version is going to be released with this fix?

            I don't know what the version referenced means, 6.4od, but it is definitely not in v6.4 server, per [1]. Tags getting overwritten is a horrible problem, so I too look forward to this.
