User Problem

In the New Roadmap, users can select Global Rank as a sorting option when viewing Portfolio or Program-level roadmaps. However, Global Rank is an Enterprise-level ranking structure, and many items within the same Portfolio, Theme, or Epic often share similar enterprise ranking values.

As a result:

Sorting by Global Rank frequently does not meaningfully change item order in Portfolio or Program views.

Users expect ranking to reflect the context they are currently planning within (Portfolio, Program, or Team-of-Teams).

The presence of Global Rank as a sort option in scoped views can create confusion because it appears available but provides limited practical value for prioritization.

This reduces confidence in roadmap sorting and makes prioritization within local planning contexts more difficult.

Suggested Solutions

Potential approaches could include one or more of the following:

Provide Portfolio-level or Program-level ranking sort options within the New Roadmap.

Make ranking options context-aware based on the selected hierarchy level.

Hide or de-emphasize Global Rank sorting when viewing non-Enterprise roadmap contexts.

Provide clearer UI indicators showing which ranking structure is currently being applied.
