User Problem
With the recent upgrade to Milestones (previously Fixed Dated Milestones), users can no longer edit the Complete Date. The Complete Date is now only set when the Milestone State is updated to 'Complete'.
Previously, with Fixed Date Milestones, users could still edit the Complete Date. This change poses an issue for users, such as Product Managers, who may forget to mark a milestone as complete on the actual completion date. For example, if a milestone was completed last week but marked as complete the following week, the displayed completion date on the Roadmap is incorrect, and users are unable to adjust it to reflect the accurate date.
Suggested Solutions
- Allow Manual Editing of Complete Date: Reintroduce the functionality that allows users to manually edit the Complete Date of a milestone even after the state has been updated to 'Complete'.
- Grace Period for Editing: Implement a grace period during which users can modify the Complete Date after marking a milestone as complete, ensuring the correct date can be entered without permanently locking the field.
- Prompt for Confirmation: When a milestone is marked as complete, prompt the user to confirm or edit the Complete Date, providing an opportunity to correct it immediately.
Current Workarounds
None. Users do not currently have a workaround to edit the Complete Date once the milestone state has been set to 'Complete'.
