User Problem
Request to not send 'No Parent' data to Jira custom field when the 'Parent Epic' field is empty in Jira Align Feature
When Jira Align (JA) Feature has no 'Parent Epic' set, when this issue syncs to Jira, the corresponding Jira Epic will have the respective Jira custom field set to 'No Parent' via the connector sync.
Customer use case: The 'No Parent' assignment by the Jira connector in Jira causes Jira automations to fail as No Parent is not a valid value for their Jira custom field.
Steps to reproduce:
Support used the following steps to see the above current behavior
- In JA > Jira Settings > Jira Setup tab > Parent work item custom field on features (read-only text field) is set to a Jira custom field.
- Create a Jira Epic in Jira for a project that uses the above custom field. In my test, the Jira Epic custom field shows as "None" initially in Jira.
- Let the Jira Epic sync to JA Feature
- In JA, open the synced Feature slide out. Note, currently the Feature's slide out > 'Parent Epic' field is not set ('Select one' is shown). This is okay.
- In JA Feature, make some minor changes in the Feature description and let it sync back to Jira
- In Jira, in the same work item, now check the above Parent work item custom field. It is now set to 'No Parent' by the connector sync.
Suggested Solutions
- To have a way to not send 'No Parent' data to Jira when the 'Parent Epic' field value is empty (not set) in JA Feature slide out. Jira Align shouldn’t be setting this Jira custom field value to “No parent”
