As a Product Owner, there is a need for the implementation of an automatic status update feature in Jira Align. This feature will automatically move the parent Initiative to In Progress when a child Epic is moved to In Progress. This will eliminate the need for manual confirmation from the team and ensure that the Initiative status accurately reflects the progress of its associated Epics.

The main objective of this suggestion is to streamline workflow management and reduce manual updates in Align for our leaders. By automatically updating the status of Initiatives based on the progress of their child Epics, we can ensure that the status accurately reflects the work being done and eliminate the need for additional manual updates.

Furthermore, this automation will help in maintaining consistency across different levels of the project hierarchy. For example, if a Story is in progress, the associated Feature should also be marked as in progress. Similarly, if a Feature is blocked, the status of the parent Initiative should reflect this blockage. This cascading status update mechanism will enhance visibility and simplify status tracking within the system.
