Description
User Problem
Users encounter challenges with stale links to Jira Epics in Jira Align when Epics are deleted or moved between projects. This issue arises because Jira Align does not automatically recognize deletions in Jira, leading to discrepancies between the systems. Users have expressed difficulties in managing these stale links, which often retain connections to Jira epics that no longer exist or have been relocated, creating confusion and inaccuracies in tracking
Suggested Solutions
Automatic Detection and Cleanup: Implement logic within Jira Align to automatically detect when an Epic is deleted in Jira and update the corresponding links, ensuring that stale connections are removed or updated accordingly.
Enhanced Jira Deleted Items Job: Improve the "Jira Deleted Items" job to effectively identify and process items across multi-project features, ensuring that deletions in any linked Jira project are recognized and handled appropriately.
Manual Link Management Tools: Provide users with tools or options within Jira Align to manually manage and clean up stale links to Jira epics, offering a straightforward way to ensure data accuracy when automatic processes fail or are not applicable.
Current Workarounds
Manual Cleanup: Currently, the only workaround involves manually removing all projects from the Feature and updating/saving the description to force a link clearing. Then, re-adding the original projects and resyncing. This method, however, may not fully resolve the issue of stale links to previously deleted or moved Epics.
