User Problem
Users currently face limitations in filtering Roadmap views by Program Increment (PI) across all levels of the product in the New Navigation system. This restriction affects the ability to conduct comprehensive planning and analysis, as the functionality to view data seamlessly across Portfolios, Programs, or Teams using only PI as a filter is missing. This functionality was available in the old navigation system due to its logic of filtering and its absence in the New Navigation system has and impacted the efficiency and flexibility of data access and analysis
Suggested Solutions
- Implement Global PI-based Filtering: Introduce a feature across all levels of the product in the New Navigation that allows for Roadmap views to be filtered using only PI information. This feature should enable users to access data across Portfolios, Programs, or Teams seamlessly.
The behavior of the Roadmap should be the same in all levels of the product (Enterprise, Portfolio, Programs, teams, etc)
- Expand Filtering Options in Existing Menus: Enhance the filtering in the current "Enterprise" tab and other relevant menus to include a dedicated PI filter option. This should not be limited to the enterprise level but extend to other levels within the product, ensuring uniform functionality across the board.
- Customizable and Flexible Filtering: Allow users the ability to customize filters on the Roadmap page, including the addition of PI as a standalone filter. This approach would provide users with the tools to tailor their data analysis and planning processes more precisely.
Workarounds
- Using the Enterprise Tab: As per the solution found, users can navigate to the "Enterprise" tab and select a Snapshot and the PI of interest to filter the Roadmap. However, this method does not offer the same level of flexibility as the old navigation system, particularly because it does not allow for filtering solely based on QI information across all relevant categories.
- Manual Navigation: Users can manually navigate through each Portfolio, ToT, or Team to compile the necessary data. This approach is time-consuming and inefficient, especially for users needing to access and analyze data on a large scale.
The reintroduction or enhancement of PI-based filtering in the New Nav system is crucial for maintaining efficiency and flexibility in data access and analysis. The current limitations significantly impact users' ability to perform enterprise-wide assessments and planning effectively.
