One of our partners states that they frequently come across many Jira Align customers who desire to incorporate Jira Align into their workflow but still have a necessity to manage predecessor/successor relationships between their work items at various levels of scale. According to him, these customers often provide him with a long list of known predecessor/successor relationships and request that he upload or import these links into Jira Align in bulk.

Since there is no way to do this today, he has to visit one of the work items in each of the predecessor/successor pairs to manually implement a work item links via the “Links” tab on that work item’s Details Panel.

To more efficiently implement this at scale, he’s hoping that the “Work Item Links” page can be improved to include a “More Actions” button in the top-right corner of the “Work Item Links” page. This “More Actions” button would include a dropdown with similar options available in the Features Grid. In this scenario, options to “Import” work item links and “Export” work item links would be needed. The import/export functionality would need to work similarly to how those functionalities work on the Features Grid.

Attached to this Suggestion, this partner has included:

• A simple mockup of the Work Item Links page with the “More Actions” button included, and
• A simple mockup of what a potential import template/export file might look like (in .xlsx)

Suggestion

Please consider adding the ability to enable bulk import of these predecessor/successor relationships in Jira Align.

Workaround

No workaround available. I have done a quick research and confirmed this is not available via the import/export feature, also, there's no API endpoint available that would allow customer's doing this programmatically using a script for example.
