Issue Summary
In the new navigation, the only available permission toggle for Strategic snapshots (Enterprise >> Manage >> Strategic Snapshots) is all-or-nothing: either full access (create, delete, change) when toggled on, or no access when off. This contrasts with the old navigation, where users could select "the strategic snapshot" in the "strategic backlog" even without the permission toggle.
Steps to Reproduce
- Log in with a user having customized role permissions to access the strategy room and strategy backlog, but not to manage snapshots. In other words, a user that has Enterprise >> Manage >> Strategic Snapshots DISABLED
- Navigate through the new user interface to the strategy room.
- Observe that the snapshots are missing from the dropdown menu.
- In old Navigation UI, you'll be able to see some of the Snapshots (depending on what you have selected in Tier 1
Expected Results
The comments below outline the changes that we're making. They will make this ticket a non-issue, and we'll close when the work below is shipped.
"We have some changes coming before the removal of the old navigation experience.
Updates to enterprise menus and global views of roadmaps and backlog:
- The strategic snapshot selection will be removed from the enterprise menu. Clicking enterprise will open the strategy room as it does today, but the snapshot selection will now be an in-page filter (as well as on the strategic backlog and strategy tree).
- Roadmaps will be added to the sidebar menu.
- The strategic snapshot filter in the sidebar menu will be replaced with the release filter. This will allow you to filter for global views in the backlog and roadmaps.
This means you will not need to grant additional permissions related to strategic snapshots in order to use the enterprise pages."
Actual Results
Discrepancy in user experience for different role permissions in the new navigation.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
