Current Behavior:
When a user with a managed Atlassian account visits their Security settings (https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security), they see the following message under the Passkeys section:
"You can't use passkeys because your organization's authentication policy doesn't allow them."
The Problem:
This wording is factually incorrect. Native passkeys are currently not supported for any managed accounts (as tracked in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ID-9120). The current message incorrectly attributes this product-wide limitation to the customer's internal IT/Authentication policies. This causes:
- Confusion for users who believe their company is blocking a security feature.
- Unnecessary support overhead for IT departments/Org admin who have to explain that they haven't set such a restriction.
Suggested Wording Update:
The message should be updated to accurately reflect the status of the feature for managed accounts.
- Example: "Passkeys are not yet supported for managed Atlassian accounts. We are working on bringing this feature to you soon."
Steps to Reproduce:
- Log in with a managed Atlassian account (domain-verified).
- Navigate to Account Settings > Security.
- Observe the misleading message in the Passkeys section.
