Problem Definition
By design, scenarios where a user's "Full name" on their Atlassian account and "Full name" on the corresponding JIRA account does not match, the end user can choose whether to "show" or "hide" their details. JIRA admins are unable to influence this behavior.
Suggested Solution
- Implement a way for JIRA admins to have some level of control over this feature.
- Streamline the process and present fewer steps to the JIRA admin and end user.
Why this is important
- More overhead for the JIRA admin as they will need to advise users of this extra step.
- Limit confusion for end users.
Workaround
Ask the end user to select "Let others see my full name" when logging into an instance for the first time, or update the setting from the "Change your privacy setting." link on the user's profile in JIRA.
