That's great. But the access speed is still low for confluence. Can this also be improved?

Thanks for your patience with this everyone. We’ve made an update and it’s now possible to view and pass reCAPTCHA from within China in order to complete a sign-up.

            Thanks,

            Tom
            Product Management, Atlassian

We've been happy with Atlassian Cloud and we're adding a team in China who need access to JIRA and Confluence. I'm not ready to take on a server install, so I'd really like to be able to onboard those users into Cloud.

            Thanks

We've recently been acquired by a company that has a large presence in China, and in fact, a significant amount of our work is there.  The company is currently leveraging sharepoint, but we'd like to push the use of Confluence, as well as JIRA for future software development (we will be building out some China dev teams).

I'd really like to stick with Atlassian, but this minor feature choice is a huge blocker for us.  Seems like an easy fix to offer some kind of captcha option OTHER than google.

We are also facing this issue with our China team and users. I will try the solution given by @Kaushal Agrawal using REST API. But seriously, JIRA allows to disable it in private server setup but not in CLOUD. Doesn't make sense. They should either create their own CAPTCHA module or they should provide option to disable it in the CLOUD.

Hi Kaushal - I have successfully done this too. When I mentioned this to the JIRA help desk folks, they said that in the future they will require single sign on (SSO). With SSO, we will not be able to create accounts like this, bringing us back to the problem with the Google Captcha. I have indicated to them that this is an unacceptable solution for China users.

Here is the excerpt from my ticket:

"SSO will be mandatory in the future, in a way that your users will need to posses an Atlassian Account in order to login, Chris. You can keep it disabled for now, but in the future you'll need to have a way for your users to effectively sign up for new accounts. Maybe setting up a VPN will be required for that and it's good if you can arrange that in the short term future.

That said, all we can do is to try creating a feature request so Google will not be reached when creating new accounts in JIRA Cloud, but that's the best we can do from a support scope."

We need to continue to make noise about this!

There is a way to enable users from China to use JIRA. We tried it successfully.
JIRA administrator can create JIRA accounts using REST API and share the credentials to users in China. Now, those users don't need to sign up - and that avoids the Captcha issue. Instead, they can directly attempt a login. After login, JIRA sends an email for verification. They can follow the instructions in the email to reset password. Thankfully, this step does not require Google Captcha.

            It works!

We bought JIRA license recently and didn't realize that it will not work in China. We have a big workforce in China and they are unable to use Jira.

Please give some weight to this issue. Please..
