Severity 2 - Major
Problem
- Currently, if a user is deactivated in HipChat Server, that user loses all room ownership and membership.
- This is especially painful, if, for whatever reason the user is synced into HipChat from an external directory (Crowd, JIRA, LDAP, etc).
- If, for some reason, an event occurs where all directory users are suddenly deactivated inside HipChat, it is a very tedious and manual process to restore all those users' memberships and ownerships once the problem is corrected and their accounts are restored in HipChat Server.
The users should never be dropped, but, if it happens, memberships and ownerships should automatically be reinstated once those users are restored.

Workaround
If you have a snapshot with the room membership/ownership before the user deactivation, contact Hipchat Support to help with restoring this information.
