    Description

      Summary

      When connecting to HipChat Server via the FQDN, for some customers the HipChat for Windows 4.0 client will try to connect without even prompting for username / password.

      Environment

      • HipChat Server v1.3.x
      • HipChat for Windows v4.0.1614
      • HipChat for Windows v4.0.1617
      • HipChat for Windows v4.0.1619

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Open HipChat for Windows
      2. Select 'Get Started' under 'Log in to a HipChat team server'
      3. Enter the address for the HipChat Server and select 'Continue'

      Expected Results

      The login page is displayed, where the user can enter their username / password.

      Actual Results

      The HipChat loading screen is displayed, as if they had already entered their login credentials.

      Workarounds

      Option 1 - Connect to the HipChat Server by IP address

      1. Open HipChat for Windows
      2. Select 'Get Started' under 'Log in to a HipChat team server'
      3. Enter the IP address to your HipChat Server
      4. Enter a valid email address and password, then press 'Continue'

      You can use Windows' ping tool to resolve your server's IP address
