Issue Summary
Partners are currently unable to reliably determine the Jira product edition (Free, Standard, Premium, Enterprise) or view the list of installed/licensed apps on customer sites. This challenge stems from the recent removal of key <meta> tags (ajs-product-editions and ajs-licensed-products) from backend responses due to security changes. Previously, these tags were the only way for apps to programmatically detect site editions and integrations, and there is no public REST API that provides this information today.
This limitation directly impacts developers who need to tailor features or integrations based on site edition or installed apps—work that is often critical to business workflows. With no workaround or public API available, partners are left without a reliable solution.
It’s worth noting that the lack of an API for installed apps has been tracked for over five years (!https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/rest/api/2/universal_avatar/view/type/issuetype/avatar/15311!AC-2530: Expose a REST API allowing apps to identify other apps installed in the tenantNew), with multiple vendors voicing the need for a solution.
Request
We’re requesting an extension of the REST API to expose Jira product edition and installed/licensed app information. This gap is having a significant impact on our partners and customers, and we ask that this request be prioritized.
Workaround
At this time, there is no known workaround, as the relevant meta tags are no longer available.
