Steps to reproduce

1. Create a Remote Crowd directory (uncached in this case)
2. Using the UI, set up a proxy host, proxy port, proxy username/password, HTTP connection timeout and max connections. For the purpose of this demonstration, set the proxy host/port to something that does not exist.
3. Browse the contents of the directory

Expected outcome

The connection should use the configured proxy and other HTTP connection parameters. Which means that the directory shouldn't work, because the proxy is misconfigured.

Observed result

The directory works, which indicates that it is not attempting to use the proxy.
