"Follow Referrals" is on by default for the AD connector, but off by default for other connectors.
This option uses the node referral (JNDI lookup java.naming.referral) configuration setting. It is generally needed for Active Directory servers configured without proper DNS, to prevent a 'javax.naming.PartialResultException: Unprocessed Continuation Reference(s)' error.
However, with proper DNS it is often not required, and can cause multiple issues that can be difficult to diagnose.
Is it possible to turn it off by default, and/or have some more detailed explanation of when it is required in the docs/in product?
