When any application syncs with Crowd, it will capture all groups associated with the user. This is an expected behavior if these applications are mapped to the same directory in Crowd that contains the user. However, in the long run it would be confusing for administrators to manage multiple applications and see multiple irrelevant groups (such as confluence-users in Bamboo) shown in the user's profile.
Suggestion:
It would be great to allow selection of which groups to sync to an application despite connecting to the same directory.
