When users are synchronised between an LDAP directory and an embedded directory in JIRA or Confluence all the attriburtes of the directory entry are retrieved only though a ver small number of attributes are actually used. This may include attributes such as the user's photo.

This has a large performance impact during synchronisation and also during login when an individual entry is synchronised on ligin.
