Problem
Currently, the page retention rule configuration in Confluence allows for setting limits on the number of versions to keep (by number) or specifying how long to keep versions (by age). However, there is no option to combine these criteria. This limitation prevents administrators from creating more nuanced rules that take both the age of a version and the total number of versions into account.
Suggested Solution
Enhance the page retention rule configuration to allow for combined criteria. Specifically, provide the ability to set rules that retain versions based on both their age and the total number of versions. For example, a rule could be configured to retain page versions if they are older than 18 months and if the total number of versions exceeds 5.
Why This Is Important
This enhancement will provide administrators with greater flexibility and control over version retention, helping to manage storage more efficiently and ensuring that only relevant versions are retained. It also reduces the risk of unnecessarily retaining outdated versions, thereby optimizing system performance and storage usage.
