As mentinoned in CONF-5414, "the current version of a page always has the same URL, no matter how many versions have been created".

Therefore, it is currently impossible to link to the current version of a page, so that when the page is changed in the future, the link will point to the old version.

A workaround is to edit the page without modifying its contents, and then link to the previous version. Ugly!

Ideally, it would be possible to link to the versions of a page using a descriptive URL, like http://example.com/display/spc/Home?version=6

Thank you for raising this issue. While we can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now.

            Thanks again for your idea.

Alexander Penev added a comment - Our customers needed also the same functionality so we created a plugin for it: https://confluence.bytesource.net/display/bytesourcepub/2011/05/11/Atlassian+Confluence+-+Page+version+link+plugin https://plugins.atlassian.com/plugin/details/43314 Hope it will help you too

An alternative and neater URL design (from the old VMS OS) would be to just use a semicolon, like http://example.com/display/spc/Home;6 and perhaps even allow relative versions, like http://example.com/display/spc/Home;-1 for the version before the current version.
