    Description

The fix for this bug has been released to our Long Term Support release.

The fix for this bug is now available in the latest release of Confluence 7.13 and 7.19

       Issue Summary

When using Google Chrome Version 96.0.4664.45 on Windows accidentally dragging anything in front of a Confluence page in reader mode will result in it getting added as an attachment.
      For example:

      • Clicking on an embedded picture and drag it a bit will result in new image version being uploaded duplicating attachments
      • Opening chrome bookmarks, clicking and holding on a bookmark, then releasing will attach bookmark as *.url file
      • Drag and dropping one of Confluence pages from page tree

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page in Confluence and insert an image so it is embedded
      2. Open Confluence page in Google Chrome 96 from Windows
      3. Click on the image and drag it
      4. Click on page in the page tree and drag it over Confluence page

      Expected Results

Nothing happens as drag and drop should only happen for files moved from external resource, such as files folder onto a page

      Actual Results

      1. Moved image is re-uploaded as new attachment version
      2. Drag and dropped page from page tree is attached as *.url file
        See recording here:
        Recording #3.mp4
This leads to a lot of accidental unwanted attachments and attachment versions polluting file system and Confluence

      Note

The issue seems to be caused by the new Chromium feature introduced in version 96. The behavior should be visible with other web applications on the same version of Chromium.

      Workaround

The issue is not observed with Chrome v95 or on MacOS.
