DESCRIPTION External Linking: URL names containing square brackets does not link STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Edit in Rich Text 2. Click the "Insert/edit link" button -- the Link Properties window will appear 3. In the "Link" text box type: http://www.mysite.com/Document[foo].doc In the "Alias" text box type: My Document Click OK 4. OBSERVE: The Rich Text page looks fine. -- There is a link named "My Document" underlined. 5.Click the Save button and you will be returned to the View page 6. OBSERVE: The link has now been changed to: [My Document|http://www.mysite.com/Documentfoo.doc] COMMENTS In my company the square bracket is part of our document naming convention and is not easily changed (1200+ documents). We were hoping to roll Confluence out by Christmas however this issue has brought it us to a standstill. It has been mentioned that we can use ([), however this is not practical as it is not intuitive and requires documentation for any user linking to any of our documents. SUGGESTED RESOLUTION Change the default linking character -- i.e. [[double]] brackets instead of [single] brackets
