It would be nice if the groups list could be filtered or searched, where there are many groups available (e.g. in an LDAP repository).

[CONFSERVER-6561] Add searching or filtering to Manage Groups screen

compared to the open issues and their votes (https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&jqlQuery=project+%3D+conf+and+resolution+%3D+unresolved+order+by+votes+desc) it seems like we'll have to wait some time more for this feature...

Imagine how it is with 13000 groups! Atlassian PdM should be forced to use their own tools on a large installation, so they would feel the user/admin experience.

Hi, One workaround is that individual groups can be addressed directly like this: https://wiki.mycompany.com/admin/users/domembersofgroupsearch.action?membersOfGroupTerm=GroupOfInterest

Of course a proper 'Search' - even like the one for Users is very badly needed. We have 5K+ groups (with the advent of embedded crowd copying them from LDAP).

I agree with Devin, its frustrating to search a group and look at its members ... we have 4000+ groups

Would like to see this in Confluence as well.

So, if I'm correct with my interpretation, there is NO search box for groups and since 7-Apr-08, it doesn't seem as if this will be implemented.

Why was this not implemented from the beginning? Will we ever see this?

            Hi Devin.

Thanks for the additional comments on this matter. We've got a good idea that this should be improved, unfortunately I can't yet say when we will schedule this. There's a lot of other things being worked on.

            Cheers.

            Hi all,

            Any news on this feature?
We're using Confluence with our LDAP which has very well defined groups, and trust me, browsing and looking for a specific group within hundreds of groups through the current interface is not pretty, it's rather testing one's patience

Esp when you or the other administrator start intuitively typing the group name on the Manage Group text box and hit enter, only to realize afterwards that it's actually for adding a group and not for searching
A mistake which only made the problem worse because now you have to look for that group and delete it.

I would like to suggest that we change that box to be a search box too, to be consistent with the rest of Confluence.

            Thanks,
            Devin
