Problem Definition

Currently, the Attachment macro works with a limited set of metadata that's associated with each attachment file. Examples of this include the Author which is searchable while using Contributor and File Name which is searchable by way of the Type element.

While it's possible to manually modify the Attachments macro to handle additional metadata elements, these are not automatically searchable through the Confluence UI.

Suggested Solution

Allow users to create additional metadata elements for an attachment and make these searchable. Please also see the following requests to add viewable elements to the Attachments macro:

Workaround Solution

For a given attachment:

• Click on it's Properties option.
• Add additional metadata to the Comments field.
• Once saved, this metadata is now searchable.
