Unexpected behaviour with multiple escape characters in editors

      When editing in the rich text editor or wiki markup, the escape character \ is needed to enable macro calls, and its current behaviour is as follows:

Correct -
{      renders as a macro call
\{     renders as {

Incorrect -
\\{   renders as     { when it should be    \{
\\\{  renders as  \\\{ when it should be   \\{
\\\\{ renders as \\\\{ when it should be  \\\{

There is currently no way to render \{ or \\{
