The set of special characters that are not allowed in labels is a bit too restrictive (:, ;, ,, ., , ?, &, [, ], (, ), #, ^, *, @, !, ' ' - spaces ).

At the very least, it would be nice to be able to use periods in labels, which would allow labels like "v2.2" to be used.
