Hello Everyone,
I'm one of the Product Managers working on Confluence Data Center and wanted to thank you for your interest in this fix.
We recognise the need to resolve this issue, however this is not currently on our short-term roadmap.
We are investigating when and how we can deliver a fix in the future and will be sure to share any updates.
Kind regards,
Jacqueline Bietz
Confluence Data Center
Problem
When setting space or global permissions in Confluence, external group names containing a comma (",") trigger an error message instead of being added successfully. This issue affects external user directories such as LDAP or Active Directory, preventing correct permission assignments.
Environment
Confluence Server & Data Center
Steps to Reproduce
- Set up an external user management system such as OpenLDAP or Active Directory.
- Sync an external group that contains a comma (",") in its name (e.g., "Engineering, DevOps").
- Navigate to the Global Permissions or Space Permissions settings page in Confluence.
- Search the group.
- Select the synced external group with a comma in its name from the popup dropdown list.
- Click Add to assign permissions.
Expected Results
The group should be added successfully with its full name preserved.
Actual Results
- The system displays an error message, preventing the group from being added.
- This issue affects all external groups with commas in their names.
Workaround
- Instead of selecting the group from the dropdown list, click the magnifying glass button next to the "Add" button.
- In the pop-up window, search for the group again and select it from there.
