A customer has requested the ability to customise user profiles.
That way they can easily add specific information (e.g. IM addresses, roles, departments, industry, etc.) to their user profiles consistenly across all user profiles as time progresses and their needs evolve.
Perhaps a solution like that used for JIRA's custom fields and screens would be suitable.
