Oracle 12c Release 2 is now available https://docs.oracle.com/database/122/

      Atlassian Update - July 2018

Thanks for your interest in this issue.

Traditionally we have not needed to do any specific testing to be able to support an 'R2' of a database. It appears that Oracle have made significant changes in 12c R2 requiring us to be judicious in updating our automated testing.

Oracle 12c R2 support is ready to go with the upcoming release of of Confluence 6.11. Check out Preparing for Confluence 6.11 for what else is in the pipeline.

      Cheers,

      Adam - Confluence Product Management

[CONFSERVER-52690] Add support for Oracle 12c release 2

Please reconsider this if you are stating that your EOL of the Enterprise 6.6 branch is 12-Dec-2019.  The version of Oracle that you currently support on this branch is out of compliance with Oracle support and why JRASERVER-67079 is in existence.

I believe your bugfix policy regarding the Enterprise Releases either requires your support of this (or needs to change) or why have Enterprise Releases that are supported for two years in the first place?

            Thanks!

            Rick

            Hi thomas.bartholomew1560330651,
Thanks for enquiring about backporting this issue to a Confluence Enterprise release.
As set out in our bugfix policy, features and supported platforms do not fall within the scope of Enterprise Releases.
            Regards, Adam

We couldn't wait and were forced to upgrade to Oracle 12.2 for both Jira and Confluence. So we are running it from begin of May.

as we have to plan our upgrade, please give us a rough timeline. With Coming very soon we are not able to plan and we are forced to upgrade to Oracle 12.2 in September 2018.

When could we expect an official statement of Atlassian?

12.1 is out of Premium support.

This request is open since over a year, in this time it should be possible to evaluate the software.

In professional business environments we are forced to go to full supported Oracle releases.

We are forced to upgrade to ORACLE DB version 12.2 by our DBA Team.
Is there any schedule available, when this will be officially supported ?
            Please advice.
            Kind regards

Hi abarnes@atlassian.com it has now been over 4 months (more than a couple months thus qualifies as a few) since you updated the description. Is there any update?

Need realistic answer about timeline. Few months is not enough. We will end up running Oracle on unsupported version. Does Atlassian support unsupported version of their product?

Okej, if they forced us to use 12C R2 can we get some suport then from you? Yes or no? It's more like we want to know what risk we take.

Hi James_M_Brown1210241387, you can see the last update was January 2018. Under consideration imples that "we will provide an update in the following few months. "
mats.erksen, the reason of advising caution is that we have had reports that Oracle has shipped more than the typical set of improvements in R2 to the point where we cannot simply assume that 12c and 12c R2 are compatible. Historically this has tended to be the case from my understanding.

OK what do you mean by this?

"We plan to address supporting this database in the near future and advise caution in the interim."

Is 1 months or one year? and advice caution is this mean that we should not use Oracle 12.C R2?

We are soon forced to upgrade to 12.2 by our platformsgroup. Confluence is the only that is not suport this.
Why? This means if not use 12.2 we don't get internal support from them and if upgrade we don't get support from your.

Do you mean this is good?

This issue is important to my company as we're in the process of upgrading our Oracle databases to 12.2.  As the above comment mentions, this seems to be one of the last Atlassian applications to support 12.2

            Hello,

Confluence is one of the only platforms that still doesn't support R2, are there plans to complete this in the near future?
