As a Confluence administrator, I should have the ability to enable or disable many of the system plugins in the environment via the web console.
One of the things that has always made Confluence so powerful is the ability to customize the tool to suits our needs. This is huge for our business as we must tailor the application to fit our unique needs.
The ability to disable certain system plugins along with being able to customize the environment heavily using java script to suit our needs is what we loved about older versions of Confluence. In recent versions, the ability to disable or enable certain system plugins via the web console has been disabled.
This is also a problem when upgrading from older versions in which modules were disabled; those modules can no longer be re-enabled without a database query.
The system plugins critical to enterprise customers needing this functionality (ability to disable) as reported thus far are:
- Spaces button and dropdown
- People link
- Logout
- Marketplace
- Profile pics
- Gadgets
- Blogging
- Anonymous content
- Username hover popup
- Office Connector features
This is not an exhaustive list, but they are frequently unneeded features.
Also, we would like changes to system plugins such as this ability to be documented in the Confluence release notes.
